Though Becky & Kevin’s wedding was much smaller than they had hoped it would be due to Covid, their love for each other has grown so much this year. The scripture they chose for the wedding was from 1 Corinthians 12:4-8. You are probably familiar with it:
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”1 Corinthians 12:4-8, ESV
It’s familiarity should not keep us from reflecting on the immense charge it calls us to. If you are like me, verses like this reveal the many ways I fall short to love others, especially Josh. Mike reminded us in the wedding sermon today that Jesus fulfills all of these bold requirements for us and empowers us by His Holy Spirit to do the same. My prayer for Becky & Kevin is that they would keep their eyes on Jesus as they strive to love each other every day.
